"Whoever believes in Me, as the Scriptures say, rivers of Living Water will flow from within!"  John 7:38

This truly has been the “The Winter of our Contentment”…  This would be the title of a play we could write in regards to the wonderful things the Lord has been doing in the Church body at Calvary Puerto Vallarta.  We have been challenged to reflect on the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ through the smorgasbord of messages Pastor Bill has presented to our body from the book of Revelation and the Minor Prophets.  We are amazed at the quickening of the Spirit in the believers in the church.  We now have two Sunday morning services; one in English and the other Bilingual with translation.  Many of our seasonal visitors come back to the church because of the Expository Bible study of God’s Word.  The Lord has then moved these beautiful visitors to get involved with the native believers in the church by serving them while they are here in our outreaches, serving  breakfast to the kids at the church on Sundays, working on the house building project making bricks, or by serving at CCMS during the week helping in our after-school program.  So many come and pour into the body through prayer and service that we are blessed to watch the body grow as one big international family of God!We recently have had some changes in workers in Sunday school, at CC Mission School and at the church which in the beginning brought much concern to my heart.  I normally don’t like change…that in itself is completely funny when you think about where we live!  Living in Mexico is completely unpredictable and change becomes just a way of life.   But once again the Lord guided us to “walk on the water” so to speak and to trust Him to provide the support we would need to keep the children's ministry moving ahead.  Wow!  The Lord has been completely faithful!  I know, I know, I should expect that by now but I am but a frail human sometimes slow in my understanding….!

He has so blessed the church through His servants the Costales, the Kents, the Cruz’s, the Hansens, Doctor Robert and Mara, Gary and Gail,  and the many other brothers and sisters who bring down school supplies, clothing, a stock pot and whatever can be a blessing to someone in the church and at the school. The team from Crossroads Community Church in Yelm, WA came to partner with us in the construction of a home of a needy family out in the Colonia.  In turn the Lord continues to send brothers and sisters to help make more adobes for the house as we watch the walls go up.  So many have been a part of our effort to share Jesus’ love with the people out in the Colonia where our Mission School is located and the Church.  So many have been a prayer support to all of us, standing in the gap asking for the Lord’s strengthening of our weary bodies that come with a busy schedule.  So with that I can say that it truly has been “Our winter of true contentment”!
Debra Kent was a lifesaver!  She kept track of
all 500 presents separating them by age and gender!
We thank the Lord for the toys
provided by two separate donors!
We had a wonderful Christmas outreach in the Colonia with the Calvary Kid’s and Radical Youth group who presented a musical drama presenting the true meaning of Christmas.  We then had a gift distribution where 500 children and their parents were blessed by the Lord’s love.  We thank the Lord for blessing these families in this way and for giving us all the privilege of representing Him in this manner.  God provided the money to make our annual trip to by toys from Guadalajara and we were also afforded a bunch of gifted toys by Davis and Susana Birks which we were able to give the children along with the toys we purchased in Guadalajara!  Everybody left with something in their hands!  I love how the Lord always multiplies the fishes and the loaves!
Bill carrying toys donated by Davis and Susanna!
Thanking the Lord for your lives!
There were many, many decisions for Christ as we watched the Lord move through the Youth and the Children in the church to touch the crowd.  The Gospel message was shared and God moved in the hearts of the people.   It reminds us of the scripture verse in the Book of Acts where it says that the Lord added to the church daily!
Praying for God to move....

Listening attentively to the Gospel...
"Somos La Luz!"

.....and He did move!  The Harvest is ripe!!

Before Christmas we received word that Bill’s father Jerry was very sick and diagnosed with Prostate Cancer.  After flying up for two weeks Bill saw the Lord work in the life of his father miraculously.  By the time Bill left his father was pain free and back at work!  He still has been diagnosed with terminal cancer but through a prayer effort of the body of Christ here and in many parts of the world, we have seen the Lord give an opportunity to his dad to have more time to get to know Him.  Bill shared the Bible with his father and took him to church twice.  He couldn't hear the service because of his hearing loss but we are waiting on the Lord for an answer to our prayers for complete surrender.  God knows his heart and we trust in the Lord to do something mighty in His life.  The Lord showed His grace to us here at home in Bill’s absence by providing teachers for our English and Bilingual services on Sunday and Wednesday nights.  The body really stepped up.  Over and over again He shows us that great is His faithfulness!  We sure love Him!

Alejandra and Maria Fer at our Ladie's Brunch....
what a blessing to watch them grow
in their hunger for God's Word!
We were blessed to have our daughter Estie home with us for a month and half….  She has now returned to school at Calvary Chapel Bible College in Murrietta, CA.  She is thriving there and we were so pleased to have her home for Christmas.  She was here to help us in the church and also at the Women’s Ministry brunch that we hosted in our home.  What a blessing she is to me as we work together to serve Jesus in the kitchen!  She is surely gifted with the gift of hospitality and is always so sensitive to making people feel welcomed.  We had a wonderful time of fellowship with the Ladies from our church as we began our Spring Bible study into the life of Abraham using Ann Graham Lotz’s book “The Magnificent Obsession”.  We are studying the verses Ann refers to using the Inductive Bible Study method in our devotional time.  It is such blessings to watch the Lord transform these precious ladies study time as they grow in the Word of God!
They had so much fun!  True Die-hards...these were only
a part of the Youth that stayed and stayed and stayed after the youth lock-in was over!
Under the direction of the Molina's the youth are preparing for our outreaches every Saturday by having Music and drama workshops as we prepare for Easter and other events.  Micah leads them in worship and Jose Luis is teaching the biblical definition of Worship.  It is such a blessing to watch your children grow in the Lord and in His Word.  We realize that the Lord definitely is the Lord of the Harvest.  He completes the work He started in our children, and if we are faithful to lay up scripture in their hearts and teach them how to be Christ centered, He takes care of the rest!  The youth are growing in the knowledge of the truth and are drawing other kids to His throne room!  We now have about 30 youth attending bible study.  So many returning visitors comment on how servant oriented these kids are.  To God be all the glory because it is Him who is doing the work in their hearts through His word!

Calvary Chapel Mission School continues to grow as more volunteers have been added.  The high season brings true believers who not only want to be a blessing materially but also spiritually in the walks of these children.  The world is full of people doing good deeds but what is necessary is the Gospel message always being at the forefront of every Christian helps ministry.  This has always been our goal; to see the children and the adults truly transformed by Jesus by not being conformed to the world's standards but by His Holy Spirit.

The kids from Crossroads Community Church attended
class with our kids while their dads made bricks!  The fit right in!

Our preschool and elementary class has doubled which has required more teachers.  It is a different season and now the Lord has added 3 teacher assistants; young girls who were previous students from the school!  We made changes in the advanced English class by placing another teacher which freed  me up to able to oversee the  younger children’s class of 35.  This change has been such a blessing for me personally fulfilling one of my heart’s desires!  When we first began the Mission School in Laguna del Valle we had many, many little ones attending.  We had one class of combined ages from preschool to middle school adolescents.  At that time Bill and I were the only teachers.  We would go out on Saturday and Sunday with our own kids.  We were yet to have our present location in town.  I love the Lord’s sense of humor as he used two people who had a very limited vocabulary to share His love with this mixed age group of children through song and simply reading through the Bible!   After worship Bill would teach the adults and I would teach the kids.  The part that makes me smile so much is to see some those little ones now in high school and in college or getting married!  Many are still coming to church with a heart to serve!  Once again the Lord has given me the privilege of working with the young ones, laying up the Word, instructing, correcting, teaching, encouraging these babies in Jesus!  Laying a foundation when they are so young is so essential to be able to guarantee an abiding relationship with the Lord in the future.  We absolutely love it!  Two of our teacher’s aids are girls who were previous students that fell away for a while and now are coming back to Jesus.  They are going to be mothers themselves.  What a blessing to see them interested in teaching these children.  Two of our other teacher aides are young moms of small children who are learning how to give a math class to 2nd and 3rd graders.  This really is a two-fold ministry as we disciple these women as young mothers and also availing an opportunity for them to serve the children.   On Friday’s three of them attend our Women’s Bible study given by Miss Mari Molina.  We are so blessed watching these ladies grow in the knowledge of the Truth!
We are amazed at how the Lord gives so much grace to Jose Luis and Mari Molina by making it possible for her to come and teach the women with all that their full-time business requires from them!  We thank the Lord for their maturity and commitment to come alongside us.   We are now able to have Calvary PV open everyday as Paco Sanchez is now on staff helping out with a lot of the administrative activities that are required to keep the church open.  He and his wife Bertha came from Semilla de Mostaza en Mexico City and are a complete blessing to the church as they have come alongside our discipleship programs we are providing to the body.  This is the real work...teaching the body of believers that the most important thing they can invest in is their own personal bible study.  We have a New Believer's class on Wednesday, a men's and women's discipleship on Saturday night, the "Truth Project" on Thursday nights, and our Women's study out at Laguna del Valle on Friday night.  It is such a blessing to watch the Word transform His children right before our very eyes!  I know many of you know this blessing in your fellowship so I would ask that you would continue to pray for these discipleship classes and for all the new believers that God is bringing into His kingdom!  As always, we invite you to come down and be a part of what the Lord is doing as volunteers are always welcomed!  Thank you and God bless all of you for your prayer and financial support that you put towards building God's church here in Puerto Vallarta!

Sincerely, Pastor Bill and Renee' Martin

Not a fairy tale....

Once upon a time, there was a boy about 13 years old who came to a party at church for an awards ceremony that was given for the children who were part of an Upward Soccer Tournament....He hadn't participated in the soccer league but came because a neighbor invited him....  When the invitation was made to accept Jesus he opened his heart and Christ came in!  That was about 4 years ago!  Thanks to our brother Manny who came from a distant land called Niceville with a heart for the under privileged, these children were able to have a wonderful two seasons of Soccer focused on learning the Word of God.  Then one day the young boy brought his little brothers to our little country Mission School in Laguna del Valle.  Danny and Pablito began to grow in Christ which made their mother curious about what was making the difference....Ana began to attend our after school program where she became part of our Women's bible study.  One day she shared a story of the pain and anger she had stored in her heart because of physical abuse of her stepfather.  She also shared a very sad story of a brother who also suffered abuse of a negligent grandmother who caused paralysis of her baby brother.  Due to the neglect the young boy died a very sad, sad death.... As she shared with much pain we watched Jesus begin to wash away every tear, every pain, every resentment and root of bitterness in this young mother as she learned that if she didn't forgive she wouldn't be forgiven!  What was the result of her leaving her pain at the feet of Jesus?  Her mother, her brother his wife and her two-step sisters came to Christ!  It has been such an incredible experience watching this family being transformed.  Her sisters are young mothers as well and have since this story began, allowed their children to come to the school and to church and are now members of the church.

The beauty the Lord makes from the ashes of our lives is so incredible!  The two young sisters share the same father who is Ana's stepfather.  When the girl's mother got very sick this last year, we watched her go through a lot of physical anguish because she is diabetic with a weak liver.  It is interesting that she says it is due to all the "coraje"  or anger that she has bottled up inside due to her very difficult life which first began with an alcoholic husband and then with a physically abusive 2nd husband...  The Lord touched Carmen with His redemptive love and the healing began!  As she was in the hospital she had a visit from the father of her two youngest daughters.  He came to seek relinquishment in a way of the guilt he had carried so long that caused their marriage to dissolve, absolution for the pain he had caused his wife.  She forgave him in her heart and it has been incredible to watch her move to compassion for the one who caused her so much anguish.

A few months ago the father suffered a stroke causing paralysis on his left side.  He has been in bed now for several months and it had been impossible for him to get up.  His current wife has to work full-time to support them and he must now depend on his daughters to take care of him.  The Lord working in these girls lives put it on their hearts to share the transforming power of Jesus with Him.  As they displayed changes in their own lives he began to seek more....He has been a very devout Catholic attending church practically everyday but his private life exhibited something complete different.  Carmen, the two girls and Ana have sought him out to encourage him.  As they spoke so fondly of Christ and His church the man asked to speak to us.  Well yesterday was the day that he took us there....As tears flowed from His eyes, he listened to God's love story and something began to happen.  When he was told that religion didn't save him, reading the bible didn't save him, good behavior didn't save Him...there was a pause.  He really thought he had been doing all the right things working his own righteousness which only left him empty in the end.  A white-washed tomb on the outside and dead on the inside.  The tears flowed....  Then Jesus and the Holy Spirit came like a flood and washed His tears away as he confessed his sin and Jesus covered him with His blood!  Mario now has his name written in the Book of Life!

This story began with a boy, Pancho, let's not forget about him....He now must be about 17 years old...my heart breaks to think how the enemy has sought to devour him so many times...I would ask you to pray for this boy who had the seed planted in his heart, who shows up every now and again knowing that he needs to follow the Lord, but the influence of the drug's, wrong friends, and the world want to consume Him!  Please join us in praying for this boy who the Lord used mightily to bring his whole family to the cross!

I guess the most amazing thing to me is that our lives are not a fairy tale but a true story for those in Christ which truly can look forward to a happy ending....a place called Heaven.  It is such and incredible blessing to watch and be a part of what the Lord is doing to give this truly happy ending to so many people who are being saved, ready for His return!  As we watch this Holiday Season unfold, let us not forget what is truly important....The birth of His Son who came to bring healing to the broken hearted and to make straight the path of those who would truly seek Him!

I share this hoping it will bring encouragement to your heart today as you work to build God's Kingdom during these oh so tumultuous times.  We can be confident in this...God is still sitting on the Throne and He will have the last word!  He is the beginning and the end, the author and the finisher of our faith!  He will rejoice when He sees all those bowing before His throne in worship and praise of His redemptive power that He gave us at the cross through the Name that is above all names, Jesus Christ our Lord!

Sing to the Lord all the Earth! He is worthy to be praised!

CCMS students worshipping the Lord at the Old Folks Home

Hello Family and Friends from Sunny Puerto Vallarta!

We are here the day after the Election trusting the Lord for the future of the United States which in turn will affect all of His people here in Mexico.  This Thanksgiving season we especially thank the Lord today for the biblical truth that reminds us that He still sits on the throne and is in complete control of all His children’s lives…there is such an incredible peace in trusting in His Sovereignty.  Praise be to the Powerful name of Jesus!  I believe this will lead us all in the church to become more committed to holiness and prayer.
This is an update to let you all know what we have been up to in Calvary Puerto Vallarta and to include you in our prayer and praise needs.  After a very busy summer and early fall season we look back and thank the Lord for His faithfulness in blessing the work of our hands in the church.

We had a wonderful fall outreach at the basketball court in Laguna del Valle where the nets were cast and the results were great!  Our class attendance at the school was increased incredibly!  The fun part is that there are kids attending that we knew as babies who are now pre-teens.  We had been praying for that certain part of the Colonia where there were children that attended our bible classes when we would go out many moons ago on Saturday and Sunday mornings.  Since the time we began to give classes in the afternoon these kids stopped attending because they have their regular school in the afternoon.  Now many of them are attending school in the morning and have returned in the afternoon.  God is faithful to complete the work that He has started in each one who has put their trust in Him!

Sarahi praying with the new children to receive Jesus!

Other news, we had our Hallelujah party last week which was a great time of fun, fellowship, and salvation for several new children and adults.  The theme was the “Hallelujah Fair” which was based on our Summer VBS which Calvary Albuquerque Vertical Youth brought down with them when they served here this past summer.  We were able to use many of the decorations and props that we made for the VBS and other materials we have used in the past for this particular outreach.  Calvary PV’s youth group Radical worked hard as well developing new games and additional decorations.  They served tirelessly making a special night for many children.  The church was converted into a fairground and the kids had a blast!  All this to say that we were able to save a lot of money recycling those things the Lord blessed us with in the past.  We had several of our visiting brothers and sisters who were so kind to help provide the food, snacks, and small prizes for the kids.   This was an incredible blessing as tithing has dropped.  Where the Lord guides He surely provides….!  We thank Him for those that are new to His kingdom and pray for their continued growth.
Xochitl...she is hanging on to Jesus!
We just began our Sunday morning English service this past Sunday at 9:00 a.m.  As high-season in Vallarta begins we have those who used to meet Sunday night for an English bible study.  With this in mind Pastor Bill decided to start an English morning service.  We pray that it will be a blessing to those who attend. We are continuing to pray for our Bilingual service at 10:45 which will serve those visitors who want to be part of the Native Mexican body…  Many visitors come just to serve alongside this beautiful group of people in worship, fellowship, and friendship.  The church continues to grow and fill up with new people all the time.  Our Sunday school classes for the kids are growing not only in numbers but in conviction for the Word of God!  The Kids love the Bible!  It is such a blessing to see how many of the youth have grown spiritually because they started so young in children’s ministry.  The Lord is right when He says that we will not enter into the Kingdom of Heaven lest we become as little children….they are the ones that will learn how to “persevere until the end of the age” because their feet are on the Solid Rock of Jesus!
The beautiful thing about the Lord’s grace is that it doesn't matter if you came to Jesus older in life His promises are for us too!  He exchanges beauty for ashes….He completes the work He has started…His Word does not return void!  Thank you Lord for working in the lives of all the people who are coming through the doors at Calvary PV!
A new ministry has started at the Old Folks home.  Susanna and Raquel had it on their hearts to visit the Old Folks home so we accompanied them with the children.  The kids from CCMS shared music with Bill and me which was a blessing for these lovely people.  It was a bit overwhelming for the children to see some of these people in the last stages of their lives and a few cried.  But it was wonderful for the younger generation to remember that these folks had been granted a long life because they probably honored their parents when they were young.  We were allowed great object lessons for the children.  Susanna led another group out there this past Friday and the Word was shared along with worship music.  Pray for the Lord’s direction in this ministry.
We are thankful to the Lord for His strength that He puts in us to continue on in His ministry in spite of obstacles, attacks, and small bumps in the road.  We are ever so grateful that He has brought us to a place where we realize that any setbacks are permitted by Him because He desires something else.  With every trial and temptation He avails us a door of escape and He illuminates our path with His powerful Word!  We glorify Him in all trials because we already know the end of the story….it's called Heaven!
Please pray with us as some of our longtime snowbirds will not be making it back this year.  The wonderful thing is that He is teaching us to trust in Him for the helpers not in the helpers.  We know He will provide for the administrative help we need through others.  As the ministry grows we still need workers for the harvest.  He has sent two, Paco and Bertha Sanchez.  They are a big blessing to Bill and I and the body of Christ.  Many of our members are new in Christ and are trying themselves just to abide in Christ and sometimes they don’t understand yet the value of serving the Lord in the Church… Life is hard to live down here because of the tight economic situation and it takes a while for them to learn to trust in the Lord for everything.  Pray the Lord would help them see that they are such an important part of the Body in the church that He wants to use each one with their gifts in expanding His kingdom.
CCMS Children's Choir at Christmas Outreach 2011

We also need prayer for God’s provision for our Christmas Outreach.  One of our regular supporters for this outreach won't able to help for this particular project this year because of changes in the economy.  Anyone who would like to contribute for the gifts we distribute at this outreach at Christmas would be greatly appreciated.  We have the faith to believe that the Lord will provide so with that we put this need before Him and before you.  Part of what we do is travel to buy the gifts in Guadalajara in their downtown district where toys are more economical which means we can service more children.  The sole purpose of this outreach is to bring families to the party to be able to evangelize them with the Gospel.  We’ve handed out 500 hundred gifts each year plus a snack and candy “bolo”.  We can usually provide an age appropriate gift for about 8 dollars per child.  We trust the Lord for His provision.
The “Radical” youth group always does a great job with an evangelical drama, the CCMS children’s choir presents special music and we develop a play around the story of Jesus.  We have the workers for the Harvest we just need resources to make it happen!   Please pray with us!

Praise Reports:

We praise the Lord for a brother and his wife from Canada who came here last season who found out while he was in Vallarta that he had cancer.  He received prayer by one of our elders and a sister and received God’s touch of healing and strengthening.  The way he describes it is that something made him stand up and go forward for prayer at the Sunday morning service.  It was something he had never done in his life as a Christian and says it was not to be mistaken as an impulse within himself but a call of the Holy Spirit!  He thought he would not be back this season as they detected lung cancer of the worst kind!  He has responded to the treatment and we were blessed to have him and his wife back in fellowship with us this year!  We praise the Lord for prompting the body of Christ to pray for the needs of the body!

We praise the Lord for His continued mercy and grace of granting the church to function financially even in hard economic times.  We are able to pay the rent and the bills and continue to do outreach at the mission and in the church.

We praise Him for the spiritual surgery he continues to do in our hearts and the hearts of His children….even when it hurts he brings healing and restoration.
.
We praise the Lord for all the new believers that He adds daily to His kingdom.  We thank Him that the church can now be opened during the day as He has provide other workers to help.

Prayer Requests:

Please pray for God’s help in being sensitive to the Holy Spirit to know how to meet the spiritual needs of the body through His Word.  We want our hearts to always be His heart for the lost and needy.

Please pray for continued unity and vision in Calvary Chapel Puerto Vallarta.  That the body would learn there is blessing in coming under the authority of the leadership He has put in place.  That we would have the same mind and heart in all that we do for Him.  Please pray against the attack of the enemy as folks would like to form cliques and forget to put their eyes on Jesus.

Please pray for holiness in the body and not comfort.  That God would help them see that when we work on personal holiness He gives us that peace in the midst of any situation.

Please pray for God’s strengthening as Bill and I feel the effects of time on our bodies.  My body continues to pose as an obstacle because of my fibromyalgia.  I am amazed that He always allows me do all that I am able to do, but I never want to be confined to bed because of physical weakness for our desire is to always be about the Lord’s business.  We ask for continued strengthening for both of us.

Please pray for our children:  Estie who is in Bible College.  Please pray the Lord will provide for her to come home at Christmas break.  Also for her continued commitment to apply herself to her studies.  Please pray for Abby who is sick right now with the Shingles…unusual for someone so young.  It is interfering with her schooling…Please pray for her healing and that she will be able to catch up with her school work.  For Micah please pray for continued spiritual growth as he takes on more responsibilities at the church helping with Worship and Media.  Please pray he would continue to learn the deeper meaning of Worship.

Thank you all so much for taking the time to read and pray about these things with us.  We love all of you and are so grateful to have so many friends and family that are behind the vision the Lord has given us here in our lovely church in Calvary PV.

Calvary PV "Radical" Outreach

Calvary PV's youth recently decided on a name for their youth group....They are "RADICAL"!  Their logo consists of three arrows pointing downward and one pointing upward towards heaven which communicates a choice to go against the current, not being conformed to this world but instead making a "Radical" change, going 180 degrees in the opposite direction, being transformed by Jesus!  The youth are becoming "radical" in their faith, solid in the Word, and with deep conviction are sharing their gifts!  What a beautiful thing to watch the Lord work in them and then through them as they grow closer to Him....
Shannon, Jose David, Josue, and Carlos
"He is their King....and they love Him!"

The outreach was held in the basketball court in Laguna del Valle a few blocks from CCMS.  The mission: Youth reaching Youth.  Many were touched by the Holy Spirit...many of the young people of the neighborhood stayed on the outskirts of the basketball court but a team of youth went out to minister one on one.  It is surprising to me how many have not yet really heard the name of Jesus proclaimed....I suppose because most think of Mexico as a religious country we assume that all have heard His name.  But really the younger generation live a life without church and are so pulled into the cyber-world  drugs, alcohol, teenage pregnancy, they are not in an environment where they can hear the name of Jesus because all the noise of the world!  We have a lot of work to do!  The most exciting part is to think that most of these young people in the photo above were once 5 and 6 year old in the Mission's Bible club in the colonia and at Calvary PV in town!  It blesses our heart to be able to see them living fruitful lives, sharing their faith and growing in their gifts!  We glorify the Lord in how he has used the Molina's and other adults in the church to come alongside these kids, nurturing, and teaching the Word of God chapter by chapter and line up line.  The fruit is evident!  What a beautiful time we all had watching the Lord touch not only those inside the basketball court, but those on the outskirts who were witnessed to and prayed for.

"These kids are making a decision to go to Heaven...."
Then we have the children.....there are always the multitude of children!  They comb the neighborhood and their hangout in the afternoon is the basketball court...!  We had to do something to keep them occupied as the outreach was going on with music, dramas, etc. so they wouldn't cause to much distraction.  Can you say clowns?  Well they were there....painting faces, acting, and crafting with the kids.  Many new children accepted the Lord in their hearts as they followed the clowns like the "Pied Piper"of Hamlin....Kids have such a fascination with clowns that they will follow and respond.  What an opportunity to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with these little open hearts!

As you can see God is still moving in Calvary PV and in the areas where the Lord takes us.  One thing we are learning is that the Lord shares His glory with no one and if we are always careful to walk in humility and not touch His glory He will continue to move in our fellowship and in our lives.
"Dory and Ojitos bring smiles to many faces...."
"Dory, Dario, and "Bon Bon" coloring and painting faces"

"The kids hear about God's love!"

As we have stepped into the Fall season we look forward to continued outreaches with the church and with the youth.  Coming up we have our annual Hallelujah Party to look forward to as we attempt to get the kids off the street on Oct. 31st and help them to step into the light of Jesus.
This is always a fun event as we change the church into a carnival like atmosphere using a bible theme.  The children and adults have a blast and the Gospel is presented in a concise way giving the new visitors opportunity to accept Christ and follow Him!  Please pray for this outreach.

Our Tuesday night Young Adults bible study continues in the study of Warren Wiersbe's book "On being a servant".  It is such a beautiful study of ministry according to God's terms and not our own.  We have seen it really have a transforming affect on these young people.  The definition the book teaches of ministry is:  "Ministry happens when Divine resources are used to meet human needs, through loving channels, giving glory to God."  Beautiful....and more beautiful watching these young people living this definition.  Last night we all went to the Social Security Hospital across the street from the church to share Coffee, Pan dulce, and the "Bread of Life" with the people waiting outside for their loved ones or waiting to go in for treatment.  What an opportunity we had to pray with people bringing their physical needs before the throne of God's grace and to witness God's love for them!  Their were several decisions for Christ and re-commitments for those who had strayed from Jesus.  "How lovely on the mountains are the feet of Him who brings good news!"  We thank the Lord for bringing these people out of spiritual darkness and despair into His glorious light!

The Glory of the Lord is in this place....

Today as we reflect on what the Lord has done in the midst of us at Calvary Puerto Vallarta we all are truly experiencing "fullness of Joy"! We went to the states in June so Pastor Bill could attend the Senior Pastor's conference and to take maybe our last family vacation together as we get ready to send Estie off to Bible College.  This in itself is a reason for rejoicing as we see the fruit of raising children on the mission field!  We are excited to watch and see what the Lord will do in our kids as they develop their own ministries and lives, solidly established on the Rock.  People have asked, "are you okay with Estie leaving?"  The Lord gave us a word saying, "Estie isn't leaving, she is only changing addresses."  I think our children will always be with us, even in adulthood as our roles will change but the relationship only grows deeper as we come alongside as counselors, friends, and spiritual mentors.  God is good all the time!

While we were in the states, the Lord used Jose Luis Molina to teach the flock in the book of Titus.  Coming from a brother who is strongly grounded in the Lord, firmly rooted in family values, and a strong leader to men, the message was clear and challenging to our body.  We thank the Lord for Jose Luis and his wife Mari for their faithfulness to the Lord in all things.  They work full-time in a landscaping business and it is truly incredible to see how the Lord avails them so much grace to serve in our couple's ministry, youth ministry, children's ministry and women's ministry and as leaders in our church.  The Lord truly gives grace to the humble....

It is such a blessing to watch the Lord provide servants in our fellowship.  With Estie leaving and my nephew Ben and wife Haniel moving back to the states, there was a definite hole in our fellowship as they helped so much in the day to day logistics of serving in the church.  But as they move out, we began to see the other youth and brothers and sisters rise up to continue serving in the work of the ministry!  We always stand in awe of how the Lord demonstrates that He truly is the Lord of the Harvest!  He never allows us to grow to attached or to comfortable with who He has in the church because His ultimate desire is to raise up and send out servants into the harvest.  Our job is to disciple and get them ready to serve where ever the Lord may plant them.  It is such a privilege and a blessing to watch the Lord move in this incredible way.  We look at the ministry at Calvary Chapel PV as a "boot camp" of sorts as there is such an opportunity to learn life-skills and hands on ministry as we watch the Lord bring in new believers into the fold that need mentoring and discipleship.

We got back to PV in the beginning of July, hitting the ground running, anticipating the arrival Calvary Albuquerque's youth team.  The "Vertical" team lead by Pastor Ray Toro arrived two days after we did and working together we had our VBS children's camp a few days later!  What a blessing as we went out 3 days and slept overnight at CCMS one night with 24 youth from our church and the vertical team, and 64 neighbor kids!  Wow!  What a blessing as we saw 10 new children make decisions for Christ.  All the other children are our bible students from church and the school.  It was so much fun to see these children do the work of an evangelist and invite other children from the neighborhood.  We didn't have time to hand out invitations to other children in the neighborhood.  I am sure if we had we would have been overwhelmed with the amount of children that would have shown up.  It was great to see our adolescents who have always been part of the children ministry in the past now old enough to serve as group leaders.  What a blast it was!

We were a bit concerned because the Vertical team provided drama material that we weren't quite sure we would be able to teach our Spanish speakers in a short amount of time.  Estie and Haniel translated it before hand which was a tremendous help.  Funny how even though they are no longer in PV they were still able to contribute!  I thank the Lord for their lives!  We were so blessed because the Lord faithful showed up and the kids were so blessed because He provided new members of our church to step in and fill those spots!  When you watch the Lord work in your life over the years you come to a place of rest knowing that He will show up and provide all we need when we are willing to walk on the water keeping our eyes on Him!

Valeria, Maria Fernanda, Bertha, and Emmanuel doing an incredible job at "Adventure Park" VBS!

"The Spirit of the Lord is in this place!"
Our Captain Miss Mari!

With the combined efforts of a team formed by our friends Tom and Debra Kent, and Dodie Costales, and the Vertical Youth Ministry we were not only able to get VBS accomplished but the whole school got a facelift!  New tile was laid finishing the area above the kitchen and the porches upstairs.  They painted the school and got it ready for the upcoming school year.  It was so beautiful to see the relationships that were formed between the youth, the children, the adults in the church and those visiting!  His banner over us truly is love!

We had a baptism the last week of July...two of our kids from the school along with one mom and a new Christian, Serena from Italy were baptized.  How beautiful are the feet of Him who brings Good  News...We thank the Lord for His marvelous love for men and women and children destined to know Him!  It is just so much fun to be part of those who are able to impart that love and bring people to His beautiful feet!

"I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth"
I hope one day many of you could come and visit us to see the marvelous work of His hands in this little part of His world that is truly a big part of His heart!  We thank the Lord daily for the wonders He creates in the midst of His people and for all of you who continuously pray for this ministry.  We thank the Lord for all those that have come to serve alongside us in the work of His ministry here in Calvary Chapel Puerto Vallarta!
